The Perry Group announced that Kerci Marcello Stroud, a seasoned communicator with over two decades of experience in education and public policy, is joining the agency as Executive Vice President. Additionally, she will be a partner in the public relations, public affairs, and marketing agency’s growing education practice alongside Gregg Perry and Victor Capellan.
Marcello Stroud, who previously served as Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for Rhode Island School of Design and Vice President of Communications at Teach For America, will also support the firm’s commercial and non-profit clients.
“Kerci is a strong leader who develops and executes creative communications strategies and campaigns that build and protect organizational brands and identities in often challenging situations,” said Gregg Perry, President & CEO of The Perry Group. “Kerci’s ability to understand the root issues an organization wants or needs to communicate and then lead omni-channel marketing teams to achieve their goals and deliver meaningful results is uncanny. I am excited to have her join us as The Perry Group continues to grow.”
For the past ten years, Marcello Stroud led a dynamic marketing and communications team at RISD, fostering meaningful connections through storytelling, public relations, brand cultivation, and digital strategy. As Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, she developed RISD’s communications strategy, focusing on demonstrating the institution’s commitment to being proactively anti-racist and advancing its ambitious vision to bring creative practices to bear on today’s most critical social, political and environmental challenges. Marcello Stroud also led crisis communications and served on RISD’s emergency operations command team. Under her leadership, the team bolstered RISD’s global reputation and created the institution’s first-ever and award-winning brand identity.
"I am thrilled to join The Perry Group and support the agency’s many high-impact clients,” notes Marcello Stroud. “Helping great leaders and organizations—especially those dedicated to education—amplify their incredible work and impact is a true passion of mine. I look forward to doing this meaningful work alongside The Perry Group’s exceptional team.”
Prior to her tenure at RISD, Marcello Stroud held several positions at Teach For America over five years, culminating in her role as the nonprofit's Vice President of Communications. She directed communications nationally and in the organization's then-46 regions, amplifying awareness and garnering support for TFA’s mission to end educational inequity. Marcello Stroud also worked for then-New York City Council Member Bill de Blasio, initially running his district office and later serving as his Chief of Staff. In this position, she worked on a broad spectrum of district, citywide, and legislative issues in close collaboration with community leaders and city agencies, with a particular focus on educational initiatives in the Council member's Brooklyn district. She also assisted with several local and national political campaigns.
A native Rhode Islander, Marcello Stroud holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master's in Public Policy from Duke University.
