Latest in Twitter Controversies
Musk has been the center of controversy since he took over Twitter.
Since he has taken over control of Twitter, he has fallen from his position as the richest man in the world, had to sell billions of dollars of his own Tesla stock to fund losses at Twitter and Tesla stock has fallen dramatically.
He has slashed about half of the workforce.
Musk’s actions have also driven away advertisers in droves.
It isn’t clear who would take over leading Twitter Inc. if Musk quits or what his role would be given he still owns the company.
Twitter is a favorite form of communication by journalists, but it is far from the largest.
Just 23% of Americans have Twitter accounts and less than half — 46% — use their accounts regularly.
In contrast, 69% of Americans have Facebook accounts, and 70% use it regularly. Thus, roughly 50% of Americans are using their Facebook account once or more times a day, and only about 11% use their Twitter account daily.
At Twitter, most of the company’s prior leadership was either fired or left after he took over.
“No one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive. There is no successor,” Musk tweeted Sunday.
