Looking for the fast/easy way?

Well, you aren’t going to find it, regardless of what you are trying to accomplish, hence the old saying, “Nothing good comes easy.”

It seems that in today’s day and age, everyone is looking for the fast/easy way to achieve a desired result.

Everything that is advertised tells us that we can do it faster.

Hell, even ads on TV and social media usually only last 30 seconds or less & they lure you with easy solutions.

• 8-minute abs

• Make $$ in less than 30 days

• Cook dinner in less than 10 minutes

• Fast food

I attribute it to all the stimulation & distractions around us, our short attention spans and our “busy' schedules.

I put busy in quotation marks because most of the time we are busy but unproductive.

Meaning that we waste more time doing mundane unless tasks like scrolling social media, playing stupid games, watching tv, and gossiping with others rather than focusing on being productive, and doing the important work that will get us farther and more successful in life.

Try talking to someone for more than a couple minutes before they check their phones or get distracted by something other than what you are saying to them.

We all suffer from communication overload, lack of patience, and looking for the next best thing, aka shiny object syndrome. We are like fish, when we see something shiny swim by, we react.

Business or fitness are the topics I am most familiar with, so I will use these two as examples.

I often see some of my members get frustrated when they don’t see immediate results.

Most of the time, when a new member, living a less than optimal lifestyle joins, they do get an immediate result due to the changes they make to their lifestyle, but then things taper off and move slower than desired.

I have had members approach me and say, “The scale hasn’t moved in two weeks!”

That’s where our coaching comes in, and we give them realistic expectations, and tell them to trust the process, and things will progress, as long as you keep putting in the work and stay the course.

We also remind folks that we can’t undo years’ worth of damage in just a few weeks or months.

Back in my early years, I wanted to get as big as possible as fast as possible, so I used anabolic steroids to achieve my goals. It worked, however when I stopped using them, I lost it just as fast as I gained it. I knew that it would take years of eating huge amounts of food and lifting heavy weights, so I took a shortcut to get big faster.

Now I realize that the longer and harder you work to achieve a goal, the longer you will keep your results.

When it comes to finances, everyone wants to be a millionaire, yet very few are willing to do the work required to make substantial cash. People with no experience want to start at the top, making top salaries, before they put in the time and energy required. Everyone wants to be a social media influencer and be an overnight sensation

I was guilty of trying to “get rich quick” myself.

From the time I was 15, I was always a hard worker. My grandfather and parents are hard workers, and they instilled a great work ethic in me.

However, in my early twenties, I wanted to make cash faster, so I started dealing drugs. It worked for a short time, and I always had stacks of cash, but that all went by the wayside and I ended up in jail.

Guess what? I lost everything just as fast as I made it, and news flash, it’s even tougher to make money when you are locked up. I lost years of earning potential, and it took a long time to bounce back.

Even in business now, sometimes I get frustrated when an ad or program doesn’t hit it out of the park, but I have coaches I can lean on and they either help me fix what’s not working, or talk me off the ledge and tell me to trust the process.

It all boils down to these three things:

1. Plan and prioritize: Do you want to look & feel great and improve your health? Want to make money in your business or job? Then create a plan and prioritize. Remember, if you fail to plan, then plan to fail. I see it all the time, folks make appointments with us and cancel because they didn’t plan their day accordingly, and “something comes up” so they get overwhelmed and cancel. The “something” becomes more of a priority than their health and fitness, so they push it aside for another time. When I was in the early years of my business, my coach blasted me because I was all over the place. Searching for gurus to bail me out, hiring ad agencies and throwing things against the wall to see if they would stick. Now I follow a plan, and prioritize one thing at a time.

2. Consistency / Not quitting: We advertise 30 minute workouts to attract the busy individual, however, you need to attend these 30-minute workouts consistently. You can’t get results just working out one day here and there, and you certainly won’t get results when you give up altogether. Consistency means that you need to make it a lifestyle. The same goes for my business. I run ads constantly, and send several emails weekly. (You know this if you are reading this article). I don’t just do these things when it’s convenient or “when I feel like it” because sometimes it can take contacting someone 8-10 times before they are willing to commit to a program, just like it takes time to build muscle and lose weight effectively. I get up every day and do something that will potentially move the needle forward, and constantly invest in my team so they can consistently grow and learn how to improve their game.

3. Go all in:  Part-time effort will net you minimal results. You need to go all in to accomplish your intended goal, otherwise, you will stay on a rollercoaster the rest of your life. This goes for all areas of your life. If you eat well sometimes, and workout sometimes, then expect what you put in. If you work sometimes, then expect to stay broke. If you pay attention to your kids sometimes, then expect to have screwed-up kids. If you clean your house sometimes then you will live in a pig pen.

See the pattern here? It’s a tried and true process.

When you go all in, prioritize what you want to accomplish, and consistently put in the reps, you get results, period. It may not happen as fast as you envisioned, but I guarantee it will happen.

Look at someone that loses weight rapidly.

In 6 months, they regain all the weight back, and then some.

Remember, nothing good comes easy, and quick fixes NEVER last.

Committed to your success,

Coach Matt
