Fit for Life: A Reminder for Us All

We just had a BIG election, and half of you reading this are jumping for joy, and the other half are dreading the outcome.

With that being said, there are things we all need to put into perspective, regardless of what side you are on.

As Americans we all need to live together, and share space with one another in order to thrive as a nation.

We can’t let one person dictate how we conduct ourselves and live our lives.

I want to remind everyone that by implementing the 3 primary C’s in life, we will all live well and prosper, regardless of who sits in the White House. It has worked since the inception of time, and will continue to work forever, when applied.

The first C is to COPE with the forces that you can’t control. This goes for the election all the way to the weather.

You can’t control either at this point, so it’s up to us to call an audible when things don’t go as planned.

If I plan an outdoor workout, and it’s cold and raining, it just means I need to dress differently.

I won’t let something I cant control, derail me from achieving my goals.

If you don’t like a policy in place, figure a way around it. Some people don’t like our “locked door” policy at Providence Fit Body Boot Camp, however they cope with it by being on time, so they don’t get locked out.

Many appreciate the reasons we do so, therefore the policy remains in place to benefit the culture as a whole.

I am not crazy about the whole daylight savings routine, as I always wake up when it’s dark anyway, therefore I would rather have it be light out after 4:30. It’s depressing and I like to mountain bike in the late afternoon, however I need to find ways to cope with the situation over these next 5 months by hitting the woods earlier, and anticipate darkness sooner. Beyond that, complaining won’t work, nor will getting discouraged.

Even when it’s something serious, like a family member getting sick, or dying. Both of which I have experienced recently, so I needed to find ways to cope with both situations, as unfavorable as they both are.

Next on the C list is Control what you can. This goes from your mindset to your health to your finances.

You can control the food you put in your mouth. You can control the amount of times you get to the gym. You can control frivolous spending. You can control who you hang around with. You can control how much mindless scrolling you do daily. You can control what time you wake up and go to bed. You can control your water intake.

These are internal things that you can control; as opposed to the external factors you can’t control. Once you realize this, and implement the positive aspects to the highest level, you become an unstoppable force.

Nobody can deter these things from your life, unless you allow it.

Therefore it’s all our responsibility to focus like a laser on what’s in our control.

The last C is to Concentrate on what matters most in your life. These are the things you can control, as concentrating on what you can’t will leave you frustrated and discouraged.

I never like to talk politics or religion because we all have our own set of opinions and feelings, therefore I control the narrative and turn the conversation to topics that matter.

If you concentrate on surrounding yourself with positive, uplifting people who bring out the best in you, you will be much happier, as opposed to letting yourself get pulled into the negative, energy-vapor rhetoric.

If you concentrate on your health and fitness and make it a priority, you will have more energy, self-confidence, and self-esteem and feel better in all areas of your life.

Remember, you have the control to concentrate on the positive and uplifting things that bring you joy in life.

Don’t let yourself go down the rabbit hole of despair.

In conclusion, if we all follow the simple 3C policy, and all bring our best self to the table, we have the ability to influence others in a positive way. When we all strive to be better, we will become a united, unified force that no one person or circumstance can control.

Committed to your success,

Coach Matt
