Fit for Life: Combat the Summer Blues

We are officially 1/2 way through summer, and I notice a yearly pattern that amazes me.

The pattern is that many people start working out at the beginning of January so they can look good for summer, and then they abruptly stop and lose focus on their nutrition when summer actually arrives.

This makes no sense and baffles me, leaving me shaking my head. Why work so hard all year long? Then, when it matters most, we fall off and let our health and fitness regress.

Folks drink more alcohol and eat more unfavorable foods during this time, as well as get lazy when the unbearable heat and humidity hit. We also stay up later and, at times, sacrifice our sleep due to the longer days.

Over the years, we have found this to be normal, so this year at Providence Fit Body Boot Camp, we spent more time and focused on keeping our clients engaged and preventing them from falling off their routines.

Here are some solutions and ones you can implement today:

Besides incentivizing everyone to get to their 30-minute workouts more frequently, we ran a few small group nutrition consults for folks who may have needed a refresher or jumpstart on dialing their nutrition back in.

In addition, I created a meal plan for the general public to use so they can simplify their nutrition and get back on track for August.

I did this as a temporary solution because this plan will only be sustainable for some folks unless they have a bland palate. HOWEVER, if you use it and stick to it for two weeks straight, you will get favorable results.

To get a copy of this free meal plan just email me at: [email protected], and I will share the it with you!

Just adjust the portion size, eat precisely what’s on the plan, and I guarantee you will instantly feel better.

Here’s why:

1. It’s healthy. It contains ample amounts of protein, fat, and carbohydrates. I don’t believe that you need to avoid any specific macronutrients to get favorable results. All benefit our function.

2. It eliminates all empty-calorie / inflammatory foods, such as gluten, dairy, and soy products. These foods have no benefit to the human body, so eliminating them will help the body function more efficiently.

3. Water is required at every meal. You will be pleasantly surprised by how well you function when adequately hydrated.

4. Because it contains adequate protein, you will maintain and build muscle mass, which creates a thermogenic effect within the body, boosting your metabolism and burning more calories.

5. It is broken down into more frequent meals, revving up your metabolism and making each meal more manageable to digest.

6. It’s simple (most would say boring). You can buy in bulk and meal prep for a few days out. When things are less complex, it makes it more likely we will stick with them, and consistency is key.

Lastly, I am NOT a Nutritionist or a Registered Dietician. Many in mainstream nutrition would frown on this type of plan and try to poke holes in its effectiveness. You hear many conflicting opinions in the diet and nutrition industry, and everyone has a solution, yet we are getting sicker and sicker every decade.

I have been helping people get fit and healthy for close to 30 years now, and I know this plan will work. I have been following holistic health doctors and practitioners who do unsubsidized, independent research my entire career, and these are the types of nutrition plans they recommend.

Try it for two weeks, and if you feel fantastic, have more energy, and lose a couple of inches around your waist, keep on going.

If you feel like it didn’t work for you, that's okay, too. At least you gave it a try.

Good luck and I would love your feedback after your first week!!
