NEW: Block Islander Brian Williams Rapping Goes Viral

Brian Williams is known worldwide as NBC's nightly news anchor, and, after last night, as an MC too.

The video of Williams -- in clip form -- spitting rhymes has gone viral this morning (check out the video BELOW). But what most still don't know is that Williams is a part-time Rhode Island resident, with a vacation home on Block Island.

Williams has been effusive with his praise for Block Island, which he called "heaven on earth" in a video tribute. He listed the Book Nook, Kittens, and Twin Maples as some of his favorite destinations. "You know a place is great when it has more dirt roads than paved roads," quips Williams.

At another public appearance, speaking at a 2007 Advertising Council dinner, Williams discussed how he and his son, then a high school baseball player, would have catches at the small Block Island airport. Understandable that he would characterize the Island as "a gem just offshore."

Make sure to catch the video of Williams' Tonight Show performance -- plus his lavish praise for Block Island -- below.
