7 Major Coronavirus Developments — RI Will Cross Over 500 Deaths Today — May 18, 2020

On Monday, the Raimondo administration will update data on the impact of the coronavirus and Rhode Island will exceed 500 deaths.

In approximately two months, Rhode Island has been hit with a number of deaths that ranks the state 8th in per capita deaths in the country. The count as of Sunday stood at 499.

Few have been able to pay tribute to those who have passed due to social distancing limitations.

The University of Washington's IMHE modeling platform predicts that by August 4, 2020, 922 Rhode Islanders will have died from the virus.

Former Rhode Islander Director of Health Michael Fine says that Rhode Island's response is insufficient. He warns that without a change in strategy the state faces a very difficult fall and winter.
