Bank Robbed in Downtown Providence — Police Apprehend Suspect on RIPTA Bus

Providence police have apprehended a suspect in a bank robbery in downtown Providence. 

About Incident 

Police responded to a report of a robbery at the TD Bank at 180 Westminster shortly after 1:50 PM on Saturday.

The suspect reportedly came into the bank and demanded money from a bank teller.

He then fled the location with an undisclosed amount of cash. 

According to police, the suspect, later identified as William Archer, age 59, was later apprehended by officers on a RIPTA bus. 

He was taken to Central Station for processing.
