Police Investigating Bank Robbery on East Side of Providence

Providence police are investigating a report of a bank robbery on the East Side of Providence. 

About Incident

Shortly before 10 AM on Tuesday, police responded to a report of a bank robbery at 131 Elmgrove Avenue — Santander Bank.

Upon arrival, police met with bank staff — a bank teller told police she had been waiting on a customer, and the suspect had been waiting in line.

According to the teller, the suspect passed a note announcing this was a robbery and ordered her to hand over cash. 

The suspect took the currency and fled the bank. 

Witnesses told police the suspect — who was wearing a mask and a hooded sweatershirt — was around 5’8”, with braids in his hair and had a black leather jacket with fur around the hood.

Detectives are currently investigating.
