About Incident

Police were called to Rodman Street — off of Broad Street in the Elmwood neighborhood of the city — shortly after 2 PM on Friday for a call for a person in possession of knives.

When police arrived, they said they encountered two individuals yelling at each other — and one who was holding two knives.

The suspect, Michael Johnson, age 31, then reportedly fled from police into a room in the dwelling.

When police came to the door of the room, he then allegedly pulled out a taser at officers and turned it on.

Police say Johnson was arrested following a brief struggle.

Johnson's brother told police the altercation began when the two argued over cleaning the bathroom. Johnson was transported to Rhode Island Hospital and was treated for knife injuries

He was found to have an active bench warrant for domestic vandalism out of Providence and remained in police custody.

Johnson is facing assault with deadly weapon (ADW) charges along with additional charges.
