Customer Stabbed During Robbery at Providence Convenience Mart - Store Clerk Shot at Suspect

According to police, the store clerk shot at the suspect who had brandished a knife demanding money — and a customer who had attempted to stop the suspect from leaving the store was stabbed.

Police reported finding a trail of blood leading to the victim, who had been stabbed in his back and shoulder. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
The store clerk told police a man dressed in all black came into the store, went behind the counter, and demanded money, brandishing a knife.
The clerk told police he had a concealed firearm on him, and shot at the suspect, who then attempted to flee the store.
According to the clerk, a customer — the stabbing victim — had tried to stop the suspect from leaving, when he was stabbed.
The suspect ultimately fled the store. Police located the gun used by the clerk as well as several spent shell casings.
The clerk was taken to Central Station for questioning; according to police, he will not face charges.
Detectives are currently investigating.
