Cranston Police Arrest Man for Possession of Loaded Gun, Find Gas Grenades in Car

During the investigation, police located two tear gas grenades in the trunk of the car.
Damion Oneil, 24, was charged with permit required to carry a pistol.

The Arrest
According to Cranston police, on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at 10:15 p.m. police received information that a person was in possession of a gun and headed to a location in Cranston.
Cranston Police report:
Officers conducted surveillance based on the information and a short time later, officers located a black Cadillac on First Avenue in the Elmwood section.
According to police, officers on surveillance monitored the Cadillac which was occupied and running with both a man and woman inside. They watched the suspect as he got out and opened the rear door, went inside and then got back in the driver’s seat.
Contact was then made with Damion Oneill, age 24, of 316 E 8th St, Manchester, Ohio, and a search of the car was conducted.
A loaded High Point .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun was seized as a result.
Upon a further search of the car, two CN gas grenades were located in the trunk.
The CN gas grenades were recovered with the assistance of the RI Bomb Squad Technicians and are being further evaluated.
Oneill was arrested.
