State Police Unit and Cranston Police Team on Major Drug Arrest

On November 22, 2019, members of the two units working in coordination arrested Carlos M. Washington, age 26, of 301 Oaklawn Avenue, Apartment 204 in Cranston on a Rhode Island State Police Affidavit and Arrest Warrant for three (3) counts of delivery of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and for:
1) Possession with Intent to Deliver a Schedule I/II (Crack Cocaine)

3) Distribution of a Controlled Substance Near a School
4) Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons Prohibited
5) Possession of a Firearm While Committing a Controlled Substance Violation.
He was arraigned at Kent County Hospital and was ordered Held Without Bail.
Washington's next court date will be Monday, November 25, 2019 at Third Division District Court where he will appear for a formal arraignment.
Seized from the residence of Mr. Washington was the following:
27 grams of suspected crack cocaine;
oxycodone pills;
$112,685 dollars in U.S. Currency and;
(1) Ruger .380 Handgun
According to the Rhode Island State Police, any person found guilty of Delivery/Possession with Intent to Deliver and Manufacture a Schedule (I) or (II) Controlled Substance may be imprisoned for not more than thirty (30) years, or fined not more than one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) nor less than three thousand dollars ($3,000.00).
Any person found guilty of Distribution or Manufacturing a Controlled Substance listed in Schedules (I) or (II) in or near Schools shall be punished by a term of imprisonment or fine, or both, up to twice that authorized by those found guilty of the charges associated with Delivery of a Schedule (I) or (II) Controlled Substance.
Any person found guilty of Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons Prohibited may be punished by imprisonment for not less than two (2) years and not greater than ten (10) years.
Any person found guilty of Possession of a Firearm While Committing a Controlled Substance Violation may be punished imprisonment for not less than two (2) years and not greater than twenty (20) years.
