Police were called to Kennedy Plaza shortly after midnight Saturday morning for a report of an aggravated assault.

Upon arrival met with the victim — a male in his 40s — holding his leg.

The victim told police he had gone to Kennedy Plaza to meet a friend arriving on a bus, when he said he was assaulted by a group of men who had been standing in front of vehicles parked by Haven Brothers.

According to the victim, he was punched multiple times and then run over by the driver of one of the vehicles fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken by Providence Rescue to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

Detectives are currently investigating.
