About Incidents

Shortly after 8:30 AM on Thursday, police responded to the corner of Hope and Angell Streets for a report of pedestrians being shot at with BB guns.

The victim said he was walking on Hope Street when an SUV pulled up, rolled down a window, and pointed a gun at him.

He said he heard several pops of the gun being fired, which he then realized was a BB gun, but that he was not hit.

Then, Providence police responded to the Brown University Public Safety Department at approximately 10 AM for a report of a Brown Bookstore employee being assaulted.

The employee — a female — said she was walking along Cushing Street when a dark colored SUV drove by, pointed a gun, and fired airsoft pellets at her.

About Arrest

Shortly before 11 AM on Thursday, police said they located the vehicle described by the victims in the parking lot of Hope High School.

Police say that school administrators identified the vehicle occupants — both juveniles — and police said a seach found a black airsoft gun.

The gun was seized and the juvenile who was in possession of the gun was turned over to the Youth Services Bureau.
