Man Assaulted With Hammer Outside Providence Liquor Store — Robbed of $10
A man was struck with a hammer during a robbery outside of a Providence liquor store on Wednesday.
The suspects reportedly took $10 from the victim and then fled.

About Incident
Shortly after 8:30 on Wednesday, Providence police responded to a residence off of Chalkstone Avenue in Mt. Pleasant for a report of a disturbance.
Police said they were flagged down by a woman who said her father, who is in his 50s, was assaulted and bleeding from his head.
According to police, they spoke with the victim who said he had been at a liquor store on Cranston Street, when he was approached by two men asking for money when he left the store.
The victim told the police he refused, at which time one of the men struck him several times in the head with a hammer, causing him to fall.
While he was on the ground, the victim told police the suspects took $10 from him and fled.
The victim said he then drove home; police said they observed blood in several places on the victim’s head.
Police say the victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
Detectives are currently investigating.
