Man Reportedly Carjacked, Hit on Head With Hammer - Incident Began in Heart of Federal Hill

A man was reportedly carjacked in Providence on Sunday shortly before 5 a.m. 

The incident began in the heart of Federal Hill, according to Providence Police.

The victim said the initial carjacking incident began in the area of Atwells Avenue and Spruce Street, who told police he was then forced to drive around the city.

Police responded to Swan and Poe Streets to the victim's call for help.

The victim told Providence Police was struck with a hammer in the head and was forced from his vehicle.
