Carjacking

Shortly before 1:30 AM Wednesday morning, Providence police responded to a report of a carjacking at 275 Thayer Street.

Providence Police said Brown University Police were already on the scene speaking with the victim — a man in his early 40s.

The man told police a male suspect came up to him and demanded his car keys.

When the victim refused, he told police the suspect hit him in the head and knocked him to the street, before stealing his keys and his car.

Police put out a description of the vehicle to multiple law enforcement channels; the vehicle was ultimately recovered in Norwood, Massachusetts. It is unknown if there were any damages.

Detectives are currently investigating.
