Barrington Schools Superintendent Resigns After One Year

Barrrington’s Superintendent of Schools has resigned. 

Robert Wargo, who was appointed as Superintendent in July of 2024, resigned at Monday night's School Committee meeting.

Wargo has served in many instructional and leadership roles throughout his career in education. He has worked with students and educators at all levels including as an instructional aid, athletic coach and director, classroom teacher, high school principal, curriculum director, guidance counselor, and assistant superintendent. 

Most recently, before joining BPS in the summer of 2024, Mr. Wargo was Superintendent of Schools for the Weymouth Public School District in Massachusetts. 

Mr. Wargo earned a B.A. from the University of Maryland and an M.Ed. from Northeastern University.  He is committed to working with the students, staff, and families of Barrington to ensure all students  are empowered to excel. 

His resignation was first reported by WJAR.
