NEW: RI Gas Prices Falling Slightly

AAA Southern New England reports that the average price per gallon is down a penny in Rhode Island over the past seven days.
Don’t look now but it appears gas prices might actually be falling in Rhode Island.

One week after the average price per gallon saw its first drop in a month and a half, the trend continued this week as AAA Southern New England is reporting prices are down a penny this week to an average of $3.789 per gallon for self-serve regular, unleaded gasoline.

AAA’s March 11th survey of prices in the Ocean State found that prices are still four cents higher than a month ago and still nine cents above the national average of $3.69 but are two cents cheaper than they were a year ago at this time, when the average was $3.80.

There are also a wide range in prices in the state as drivers can currently find themselves paying between a low of $3.649 and a high of $3.979, a 33 cent difference, depending on where they fill up.

In other good news at the pump, prices for higher-grade gasoline dropped a penny this week as well as motorists are now paying $3.959 for midgrade and $4.079 for premium.

Prices for diesel remained unchanged from last week’s $4.189.
