About Incident

Shortly after 4:30 PM on Tuesday afternoon, police responded to a call for a car accident at the corner of Atwells Avenue and Bond Street on Federal Hill.

Police said that upon arrival, they encountered a man -- later identified as Abdou Sidibe, age 35 -- yelling at a woman.

According to police, Sidibe was asked to calm down, but due to his uncooperative behavior, police attempted to escort him to the rear of the police cruiser to deescalate the situation.

Police said that a struggle ensued between Sidibe and the officer and the rear window of the cruiser was shattered.

According to police, Sidibe was able to rip the officer’s radio off his uniform, leaving him unable to call for backup.

Police said they were required to use force -- including the use of a taser -- before Sidibe was ultimately handcuffed and placed in the cruiser.

Multiple witnesses provided statements of the incident, according to police. Sidibe was transported to Central Station for charging.

Police said that upon searching Sidible's vehicle on the scene, they found and seized two knives.
