Providence College Announces Commencement Will Be Held In October

The Commencement Mass, typically held on campus in Peterson Center, will now take place on Saturday, October 30th at the Cathedral of Saints Peter & Paul.
PC plans to confer degrees in a virtual ceremony on May 17th. This virtual conferral or formal acknowledgment of the completion of students' degree requirements will allow them to reference their Providence College degree as having been awarded to them on that date, which is important for so many who plan to pursue graduate studies or seek employment.

Of course, the health and safety of everyone involved must be paramount, and I am hopeful that by the October date, the COVID-19 pandemic will be largely behind us, " said Providence College President Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P.
Since the postponement of the original Commencement date, College representatives have spoken with several student leaders from the senior class, and recently conducted an online survey to gather additional thoughts and comments. More than 90% of the respondents (over 600 students) articulated a strong preference for an in-person, traditional Commencement to be held later this calendar year.
