Providence Police Identify Victim of Broad Street Laundromat Homicide

Providence Police have identified the victim of the city's latest homicide.

It occurred on Broad Street at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday October 12.

Police say that Melvin Ricardo Perez Reyes, age 38, was shot in an altercation during an attempted robbery inside a laundromat.

Perez Reyes later died at Rhode Island Hospital. 

This incident remains under investigation.

Latest Violence in City

It marks the city's 38th homicide in 37 months.

A week prior, a man was shot and killed on Glasgow Street, off Douglas Avenue.
