Providence Police Sent to Brown University, Rhode Island College Following Bomb Threat

Providence police are investigating a report of a bomb threat Friday morning.

According to police, it targeted colleges in the city.

About Threat

Shortly before 6 AM on Friday, Providence police responded to a report of someone calling in a bomb threat targeting dorms at Brown University. 

The caller reportedly made reference to Brown — as well as to specific explosives. 

Based on the information from the call, police also responded to Rhode Island College to check on a specific building.

According to police, the building at RIC was checked and secured. 

 

Latest College Bomb Threat

Providence Police police had investigated a bomb threat at Brown University in November 2021. 

Police noted that Yale University, Cornell University, and Columbia University had all experienced similar types of bomb threats.

As GoLocal reported on November 8:

Shortly after 5 PM on Sunday, police responded to the campus at Brown for a report of a bomb threat. 

Providence Police met with university officials as well as members of the State Fire Marshal's office, and conducted a search of more than a half dozen buildings. 

Authorities reported that after searching the premises, no items of concern were located.
