About Incident
Shortly after 11 AM on Tuesday, police were called to the Providence Career and Technical Academy (PCTA) on Fricker Street.
According to police, a student at PCTA told school officials that two unknown males were in a school bathroom; one of whom had a “sheisty” mask on his face.
School officials were told by police to place the school on lockdown; additional police were called to the scene.
Officers said two individuals matching surveillance footage were then seen fleeing the school toward Central High School.
Police say following a foot chase, a juvenile individual - who resisted arrest - was found to have a knife in his possession.
A second individual, later identified as Aveon Young Melendez, age 18, was apprehended without incident, say police.
