The Rhode Island Board of Elections will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, August 8 at 2:00 PM, in the latest twist in the ongoing political controversy regarding the signatures for Sabina Matos’ candidacy for the first congressional race.

Two weeks ago, the Board of Elections referred the investigation to Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha, who refused the BOE’s complaint.  The Rhode Island State Police in conjunction with the Newport and Jamestown police departments, have an ongoing investigation.

According to the Board of Elections' agenda for Tuesday’s meeting, "The Board may discuss the ongoing investigation in connection with the nomination papers submitted on behalf of United States Congressional candidate Sabina Matos, and may vote to commence further investigatory actions in this matter.”
