NEW: RI Republican Party Chairman Files Board of Elections Complaint Alleging Finance Violation

Mark Smiley, the Rhode Island Republican Party Chairman, has filed a formal complaint with the Rhode Island Board of Elections alleging a violation of campaign finance law.

The alleged violation is related to an advertisement of Treasurer Gina Raimondo’s campaign for governor, although it was paid for by the RI Democratic State Committee.

The ad, “Working Together” features Raimondo and includes footage that is identical to a Raimondo campaign advertisement.
