According to the State Police, the investigation revealed that the Aetna Bridge truck exited the center median in front of the approaching school bus and was driving across the highway to enter the breakdown lane. The operator of the bus swerved to the left and struck the towed arrow board, dislodging it from the truck.
Four students, the operator of the bus, and the three occupants of the truck were transported to Kent County Hospital with minor injuries.
Members of the West Greenwich Police Department, the Richmond Police Department, the State Police Commercial Enforcement Unit, West Greenwich Fire and Rescue, and Exeter Fire and Rescue assisted with the investigation.
The operator of the Aetna Bridge truck was also issued a citation for a Right of Way violation.
