Two Men Shot at While Sitting Inside Car at Roger Williams Park

Two men were shot at while sitting in a car at Roger Williams Park on Sunday night.

Police were called to the Temple to Music shortly after 11 PM on Sunday night for a report of shots fired. 

When officers arrived, police say they encountered a car with what appeared to be bullet damage in multiple locations. 

The victims — two males in their 20s — told police they had been sitting in their car when another vehicle pulled up and shots were fired. 

The suspects then reportedly fled the scene. 

One of the victims was injured by glass shattering in the vehicle but neither victim suffered a gunshot wound. 

Detectives are currently investigating.

As GoLocal reported on Monday, a study conducted by the New York Times tracking gun violence across the U.S. released this week ranks Providence as a “High Gun Homicide Rate” city.

According to the Times, “There were at least 52 fatal shootings in Providence from 2020-23...about 45 percent of people lived near a shooting."
