Providence Police Identify Homicide Victim, Shooting May Be Linked to "Sip Joint"

Providence Police have identified the victim in the city's latest homicide over the weekend. 

As GoLocal reported Sunday morning at 9 AM:

A man was shot and killed in Providence on Sunday morning. The incident took place on Admiral Street by Berkshire Street.

The shooting reportedly occurred shortly after 5 AM.

It marks the city's third homicide in 2024. 

 

Police Release Info

On Monday afternoon, Providence Police released the following:

On 5/19/24 at approximately 0515 hours, Providence Police responded to 190 Admiral St for a for a report of a gunshot victim.

The male subject was later identified as Julio Ariza, age 28 of Providence, who suffered a gunshot wound to his back and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. 

No arrests have been made and no further information is available at this time.

Police also observed an apparent “sip joint” being operated at this location which is under investigation.
