Providence Police Officer Assaulted After Responding to Shots Fired

About Incident
Shortly after 1 AM Saturday morning, police responded to a call that shots were fired into a house on Ocean Street in South Providence.

Police said they went to check for possible gunshot victims inside and encountered multiple occupants inside the first-floor apartment, who became uncooperative and combative with officers.
A male — later identified as Adrian Paredes — reportedly punched a responding officer in the head.
Multiple Arrests
Paredes was arrested and is facing charges of simple assault, resisting arrest, and obstructing an officer in execution of duty.
Police made the following additional arrests:
Henry Paredes was charged with one count of obstructing an officer in execution of duty and one count of resisting arrest.
Angel Paredes was charged with one count of obstructing an officer in execution of duty and one count of resisting arrest.
Jhanara Ramos was charged with one count obstructing an officer in execution of duty, one count of resisting arrest, and one count of disorderly conduct
All suspects were held for the next session of court.
