Police said that upon arrival, they met with the female victim who was already being treated by rescue for significant injuries.

According to police, the victim had multiple deep lacerations to her face.

She told police she was having drinks with friends — a male and a female — when she got in a fight with the other woman, who hit her in the face with a beer bottle.

The suspect — Ingriyd Castillo, age 34— said the victim threw the first punch and she was trying to defend herself.

Bar staff told police they did not see the altercation; Castillo is being charged with one count of felony assault.

The victim was taken to Rhode Island hospital for treatment.
