Woman Reportedly Involved in Road Rage Incident Following Car Accident in Providence

Providence Police are investigating a reported road rage incident that sent one to the hospital in the city overnight. 

According to police, officers responded to the intersection of Chalkstone Avenue and Raymond Street shortly before 11 PM Monday night for a report of a traffic accident with injuries.

Police said they met with multiple parties — including a female bleeding from her hand — who was taken by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

Witnesses told police they observed a car crash on Chalkstone Avenue, and when they went to approach the vehicle involved, the driver became belligerent and started a fight. 

The operator involved in the initial crash then reportedly got back into her vehicle — and struck the car that had arrived at the scene — and both cars left the area.

At that time, the suspect involved in the initial crash then reportedly followed the other car that had stopped at the scene of the accident, and proceeded to strike the other car again multiple times. 

The suspect's vehicle then fled the scene of the second altercation. 

Police are currently investigating.
