Cranston Firefighters Endorse Republican Hopkins for Mayor of Cranston

The Cranston Firefighters, Local IAFF 1363, have announced their endorsement of Ken Hopkins for Mayor of the City of Cranston.

Previously, the union had endorsed City Council President Michael Farina, who lost to Hopkins in the primary.

“The Cranston Firefighters, IAFF 1363 are happy to endorse Ken Hopkins for Mayor of Cranston. He has a track record of delivering, and we’re a group that measures it pretty straightforward,” said Scott Robinson, President of the firefighter’s Union.

“Ken Hopkins has had the backs of public safety across the City, so we are now prepared to stand with him,” Robinson said. “Ken Hopkins is a lot like our firefighters. He's a problem solver who cares deeply about Cranston and is committed to making our city better and safer," said Scott A. Robinson, President of the union.

Hopkins said, “I am grateful to the members of Cranston Firefighters Local 1363 for their support.”

“As a Councilman, I have always been supportive of our safety service personnel and the needs of our fire department,” said Hopkins. “Cranston residents are fortunate to have first class fire and police protection.”

Hopkins faces Maria Bucci in the November election. The Cranston FOP also endorsed Farina, but there is no word yet from that union. 

“As I travel the city our first responders and emergency personnel get terrific grades from our citizens,” Hopkins said. “When we call 911 in an emergency, Cranston residents expect a first-class team of responders, qualified to help them, to protect their homes and property and to keep them safe. That’s the track record of our firefighters and as Mayor, we will work together for the betterment of Cranston.”
