NEW: Solomon Scores Two Late Endorsements

Dom Ruggerio, Senate Majority Leader
With just over two weeks to go before the Democratic primary, Democratic candidate for Mayor of Providence Michael Solomon scored two significant State Senate endorsements – Majority Leader Dom Ruggerio and Cranston State Senator Josh Miller (he represents a very small sliver of Providence).

The endorsements come just one day after the Ethics Commission announced it was investigating Solomon.
“Michael has the experience to lead Providence on a path towards financial stability and economic development. Over the years Michael and I have represented many of the same constituents and I know he will continue to support policies to strengthen the middle class,” said Senator Ruggerio.

“Michael has been a supporter of many progressive policies and has demonstrated that he is the only democrat in the race who has the experience to serve as mayor. I look forward to working with him next January to support his school revitalization plan,” said Senator Miller.
The endorsement of Solomon by Miller is a blow to progressive Brett Smiley. Miller is a leading progressive in the senate.

“I want to thank both Senator Ruggerio and Senator Miller for their support. This is a crucial election for Providence and I will continue to work to earn the endorsement of as many Providence voters as possible during the last three weeks of this primary,” said Solomon.
