Reviews Are In: Harris Devastates Trump in Presidential Debate

Trump had a history of dominating his debate opponents — Republicans and Democrats alike since the 2016 campaign, where he bludgeoned a host of Republicans in the primaries and then Hillary Clinton.
But, last night, Harris flipped the table and looked cool, smart, and presidential. Trump was baited into every trap Harris set and became angry — very angry.

Harris laughed and shook her head.
Trump was unable to pressure Harris on her vulnerabilities — inflation and immigration.
It was by far and away Trump’s worst debate performance in his political career.
“She turned to him with an arched brow. A quiet sigh. A hand on her chin. A laugh. A pitiful glance. A dismissive shake of her head.
From the opening moments of her first debate against Donald J. Trump, Kamala Harris craftily exploited her opponent’s biggest weakness.
Not his record. Not his divisive policies. Not his history of inflammatory statements.
Instead, she took aim at a far more primal part of him: his ego.
"From the moment Vice President Kamala Harris walked onto the debate stage in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, it was clear she was on a singular mission: to get under former president Donald Trump’s skin.
She walked directly up to Trump, and into his space, to shake his hand — a maneuver a Harris campaign official described in a text as a “power move.” She used an analysis by his alma mater — the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania — to rebut his economic plan. And she rattled off some of the 200 Republicans who have worked for previous Republican presidents and nominees but who have endorsed her over Trump, their party’s standard-bearer."
“It is very well known that Donald Trump is weak and wrong on national security and foreign policy,” [Harris] exclaimed in what might be a pivotal exchange in a faceoff that saw the former president unable to sidestep his own worst tendencies again and again.”
Former President Donald Trump sat down with Fox News' Sean Hannity after the debate Tuesday night, during which he praised his performance and suggested he would consider debating again if it was done on a "fair network."
"I had a good time, I think it was our best debate ever," Trump said, before slamming ABC and its moderators, David Muir and Linsey Davis, for being unfair. "We had three against one," Trump insisted.
Trump took Harris to task for "destroying our country" during the interview and noted it was intentional when he left his criticisms about Harris' job as vice president for his closing remarks. "She's complaining about all the stuff that's wrong about the country and she's been [in the White House] for three and a half years," Trump told Hannity. "And I wanted to save that for my last little summation."
Politico Interviews Republican Strategists
Many Republicans, who were granted anonymity to speak candidly, said that overall, it was not an effective performance. But they also don’t think Harris shined, either.
"He is taking all the bait from Kamala and not focused on her being a part of the current administration and awful policies,” said one GOP battleground strategist. “Simple strategy that he is not executing. Total missed opportunity and failure so far from Trump."
“She crushed him,” another Republican battleground strategist said. “He was unprepared and rambled. He fell back to the same old talking points and when she went on attack, she successfully got under his skin."
