Providence mayoral candidate Nirva LaFortune has received her second major endorsement from a Boston politician.
Recently, GoLocal wrote about LaFortune being endorsed by former Boston Mayor Kim Janey.
Then, LaFortune announced she received the endorsement of Ruthzee Louijeune, Boston City Councilor At-Large.
Closer to home, LaFortune has failed to receive the endorsement of any of her colleagues on the Providence City Council.
There are 15 members and she has served on the Council since being elected first in a special election in July of 2017 to fill the seat of Kevin Jackson who was recalled while under indictment.
LaFortune faces Brett Smiley and Gonzalo Cuervo in the Democratic primary.

Governor Dan McKee’s campaign manager Brexton Isaacs released the following statement in response to Secretary Gorbea’s plan to take Rhode Island raise taxes on businesses. Gorbea launched the idea in a new TV commercial. SEE HERE
"Governor McKee has a plan that doesn’t slow our economy with higher taxes as we recover from the pandemic — Rhode Island is a national leader in economic recovery. He has worked to invest a historic $250 million to begin to address the housing crisis and he supports expanding pre-k — but he knows it's not going to get done through empty promises in TV commercials,” said Brexton Isaacs, McKee’s campaign manager.
According to Isaacs, “Secretary Gorbea's plan would put our progress in reverse and her numbers simply don't add up. Telling voters that her tax increase gimmick would both cover universal pre-k and 'fix the housing crisis is an insult to the people of Rhode Island. Either she doesn't know the numbers or she's knowingly misleading voters. This is irresponsible grandstanding, not real policy ideas. Being Governor is a serious job and Rhode Islanders don't have time for unserious proposals and empty promises. Secretary Gorbea's tax increase gimmick would make Rhode Island less economically competitive and even the most rosey revenue estimates don't meet the costs of her plans. That's the difference between empty promises and a Governor who's doing the work and actually delivering for people."
Gorbea’s campaign would not respond to questions about the criticism of her proposed tax policy.

The Rhode Island Building and Construction Trades Council announced Friday the endorsement of Stefan Pryor for General Treasurer. The Council is a coalition of 16 Local trade unions and claims to have over 10,000 members.
“I’m honored to receive the support of Rhode Island’s Building and Construction Trades Council, which represents the finest unionized construction workforce in the country,” said Pryor.
Pryor faces former Central Falls Mayor James Diossa who has previously announced a number of endorsements.
