5 Takeaways From the Patriots 27-26 Win Over the Giants
O-Line
This was really the first game in which the Patriots offensive line seemed to struggled .
Brady was sacked three times in the game and fumbled twice, one of which he lost.
Also, a holding penalty on rookie center David Andrews cost the Patriots a touchdown and nearly the game.
Edelman Injury
Julian Edelman went down with a foot injury on the final play of the first quarter and did not return to the game.
If Edelman is out for any extended length of time it will be a huge blow to the Patriots offense.
Malcolm Butler
The Malcolm Butler vs Odell Beckham Jr. matchup was a good one to watch. Beckham Jr. had his share of yards and a touchdown on an 87 yard play. But at the end, Butler knocked the ball out of Beckham's hands in what was a sure touchdown, was ruled a touchdown on the field and later over turned.
The Giants would settle for a field goal giving the Patriots a chance.
Kryptonite Overcome
Since 2008, the only team the Patriots had not beaten was the New York Giants and despite it not looking so good at times during this game, New England overcame their kryptonite.
One of the games of the year to this point
Gostkowski
Stephen Gostkowski nailed a 54-yard field goal to give the Patriots a 27-26 win after the Giants nearly ended the game with an interception of Brady.
Gostkowski signed a four year extension prior to this season and has not missed yet.
