NEW: Patriots Running Back Lewis Out for Season

Patriots running back Dion Lewis has a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the season, according to reports.

The Injury

Lewis was injured with 5:40 left in the third quarter of Sunday's game that saw the Patriots beat Washington 27-10.

Lewis was hit from behind by Washington's Chris Baker at the end of a 14 yard catch-and-run  and immediately grabbed his left knee as the play was coming to an end.

Lewis remained on the ground before walking off the field under his own power but very slowly.

An MRI on Monday confirmed the injury.

Dion Lewis This Season

Dion Lewis finishes the season  with 234 yards rushing and two touchdowns with an average of 33 yards per game.

Lewis was also a weapon in the passing game for the Patriots, totaling 388 yards and two touchdowns on 36 catches.  Lewis averaged five catches and 55 yards per game.

 

 

 

On to New York

The New England Patriots are currently 8-0 on the season and visit MetLife Stadium to play the New York Giants on Sunday.

Kick off is set for 4:25 p.m.
