The New England Patriots have traded defensive end Michael Bennett to the Dallas Cowboys for a seventh-round pick, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The trade comes after Bennett was suspended by the Patriots last week for conduct detrimental to the team.

"We're onto this week. We've moved past a lot of things this year. We're onto the Browns," said Patriots Bill Belichick on Wednesday when asked about Bennett's return.

By trading Bennett, New England clears about $2.6 million in cap space.

Bennett With Patriots

Last week, Bennett was suspended by the Patriots after getting in an argument with defensive line coach Bret Bielema during practice.

“On Friday, I had a philosophical disagreement with my position coach that has led to my suspension. I apologize to my teammates for any distraction this may have caused,” Bennett said in a statement at the time.

The argument came as Bennett’s snap count and percentage were decreasing every week.

Here is a look at Bennett’s snaps as a Patriot.

Week 1 -  37 snaps, (55% of defensive snaps)
Week 2 - 25 snaps, (40% of defensive snaps)
Week 3 - 19 snaps (38% of defensive snaps)
Week 4 - 24 snaps (30% of defensive snaps)
Week 5 - 15 snaps ( 25% of defensive snaps)
Week 6 - 11 snaps (22 % of defensive snaps)

In his limited snaps, Bennett has 2.5 sacks and four solo tackles on the year.

He also has four quarterback hits.
