URI's Season Comes to End With 67-62 Loss to UMass

The 7th seeded URI Rams fell 67-62 to 10th seeded UMass on Thursday night in the first round of the A-10 tournament at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. URI finishes the season wit a record of 17-15 overall and 9-9 in the A-10.

Nearly Completing the Come Back

After trailing by as much as 18 in the game, URI's Jared Terrell hit a three to put the Rams ahead 59-58 with 1:54  to play in the game.

However, the Rams would only score one more field goal the remainder of the half. 

 UMass would go on a 9-1 run from that point and take a 67-60 lead with 10 seconds to play in the game and take the win. 

URI trailed 37-27 at the half after trailing by as much as 18, 37-19, with 2:32 to play in the half. 

The Leaders 

URI was led by Four McGlynn who poured in 16 points on 5 of 17 shooting from the field  while Earl Watson followed up with 15 points on 6 of 8 shooting. 

Off season Ahead 

URI will loses Earl Watson and Four McGlynn to graduation in the coming months but next season will gain Hassan Martin and E.C. Matthews, both of whom will return from injuries. 

Matthews and Martin combined with the play of Jared Terrell and Jarvis Garrett will seemingly set up URI for a big 2016-17 season.
