The New England Patriots won their sixth straight game on Sunday night, defeating the Green Bay Packers 31-17 at Gillette Stadium.

“The defense made some big stops for us. Offensively, we all had some plays that we would have like to do a lot better job on, but we made some plays in the fourth quarter when we needed to and anytime you beat a good football team, it feels good,” said Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in his post-game press conference.

The win improves the Patriots to 7-2 on the season, while Green Bay falls to 3-4-1 overall.

Defense Leads to Offense

With the game tied at 17 in the fourth quarter, New England’s Lawrence Guy forced Packers’ running back Aaron Jones to fumble the ball which was recovered by New England’s Stephon Gilmore.

On the Patriots ensuing possession following the fumble, the Patriots called on a trick play that saw Julian Edelman throw a pass to James White that went for 37-yards, putting the Patriots inside the Green Bay five-yard line.

A couple of plays later, Brady handed the ball to White for a one-yard touchdown run to put the Patriots up 24-17 with 10:06 to play.

The touchdown was White’s second of the game.

The Patriots added insurance with 7:20 left in the game when Brady connected with Josh Gordon on a 55-yard touchdown pass to put New England up 31-17 and seal the win.

“The corner just flew up on the fake and I saw Josh so I threw it and Julian [Edelman] thought I missed him. Josh made a great catch and run, it was a big play in the game, we needed it,” said Brady.

Following the fumble, the Patriots held the Packers to just 21 yards of offense and outscored Green Bay 14-0.

Brady finished the game completing 22 passes for 294 yards and one touchdown.

By comparison, Rodgers completed 24 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns.
