PC Soccer Coach Stewart Discusses Hosting NCAA First Round Game Thursday

Providence College men’s soccer team head coach Craig Stewart joined GoLocal LIVE to discuss the team's NCAA run this year.

The Friars will host Marist in the First Round of the 2021 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship on Thursday.

The game will be played at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. and kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

"We try and kind of focus on the team and the collective units and the group, and obviously as teams do well," said Stewart of scouting opponents.

"I think obviously individuals are showcased through the team, so we do have a lot of players now playing in the professional ranks and in different leagues," he added of PC's success. 

Stewart said, "Most recently, Julian Gressel actually who's now at DC United who was rookie of the year in the MLS in 2017."

Stewart enters his 10th season as the head coach of the Providence College men’s soccer team. Stewart is the fourth head coach in school history. In his eleven seasons as a head coach (nine at Providence, three at Franklin Pierce), Stewart has led his teams to a 141-69-25 record, including seven trips to the NCAA Tournament.
