Red Sox Committ 5 Errors, Blown Out by Orioles 16-3

Rick Porcello gives up 11 runs in Red Sox loss
The Boston Red Sox made five errors and gave up seven runs in the 5th inning en route to a 16-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night at Fenway Park.

The loss is the Red Sox second straight and drops them to 73-55 on the season. They maintain a 4 1/2 game lead over the New York Yankees in the AL East.

Orioles Cruise Past Red Sox

Reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Rick Porcello made the start and the Orioles would get to him right away.

Porcello gave up five runs on five hits in the first two innings of action to give the Orioles a 5-2 lead.

After the Orioles added another run in the third to make it 6-2, things would get out of hand in the fifth.

The Red Sox committed two error’s in the inning, helping lead the Orioles to put up seven runs and give them a 13-2 lead.

Baltimore would add three more runs in the seventh and cruised to a 16-3 win.

The 16 runs allowed by the Red Sox tied a season-high.

The Red Sox and Orioles continue their series on Saturday, August 26 at 4 p.m.

The pitching matchup is Boston’s Eduardo Rodriguez against Baltimore’s Kevin Gausman.
