Revs Get Shut Out by Chicago 3-0

The New England Revolution’s three-game unbeaten streak came to an end on Saturday afternoon following a 3-0 loss to the Chicago Fire in Chicago. 

The Revolution fall to 2-3-1 on the season, while Chicago moves to 3-1-2.

New England’s Je-Vaughn Watson was tossed from the game in the 27th minute after receiving a pair of yellow cards just a few minutes apart, the Revs would have to play a man down the rest of the way. 

The Fire got the scoring started just minutes before the end of the half when Bastian Schweinsteiger split two Revolution defenders and fired a shot just outside the box into the net to give the Fire a 1-0 lead. 

Chicago continued the scoring early in the second half when Nemanja Nikolic deflected a Luis Solignac shot from just in front of the net past New England goal keeper Cody Cropper in the 73rd minute. 

Schewinsteiger would score his second goal of the game later in the half to seal Chicago’s victory. 

New England had only four shots in the game.

The Revolution return to action on Wednesday, April 19 when they host San Jose at Gillette Stadium. 

Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
