The University of Rhode Island men’s basketball team won again on a last-second 3-pointer by Sebastian Thomas to beat Davidson 92-90.

Thomas' season of spectacular plays continued Saturday at the Ryan Center as he banked a running 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds on the clock to lift the Rams to victory.

The Rams (14-4, 3-3 Atlantic 10) found themselves down 90-89 with five seconds to go after Bailey Reed scored on an offensive put-back. Rhode Island did not call timeout, electing to trust Thomas on the run. He dribbled to the top of the key and banked the shot from straight away.

Davidson (12-6, 2-3 A-10) threw an initial inbounds pass the length of the floor, but David Fuchs was able to knock the pass away. After a review, 0.3 seconds were put on the clock. URI's defense forced a pressure-lob pass into the paint, and Davidson was unable to get a shot off, giving Rhode Island the victory.

 

Highlights

- Rhode Island won the game after it trailed by 10 points (66-56) with just under 16 minutes to go after Davidson opened the second half with a 19-6 run.
- Sebastian Thomas finished with 22 points, 10 assists and zero turnovers while playing all 40 minutes.
- It was his third double-double of the season and eighth straight game with 20 or more points.
- Rhode Island matched its season best with 13 3-point baskets. The Rams were 9-for-10 from 3-point range in the first half.
- Forward David Green returned from a three-game absence (shoulder) and scored 22 points with four rebounds and three assists.
- Guard Jaden House had 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting. He scored 15 in the opening 20 minutes.
- Forward David Fuchs had six points and 11 rebounds, his seventh game with 10 or more boards.
- The Rams had just seven turnovers against a team that averages 6.0 steals per game.
- Davidson's Bailey Reed just missed a triple-double, finishing with 30 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds.
- Davidson guard Bobby Durkin added 28 points and had six 3-pointers.
