Rhode Island did not call timeout, electing to trust Thomas on the run. He dribbled to the top of the key and banked the shot from straight away.
Davidson (12-6, 2-3 A-10) threw an initial inbounds pass the length of the floor, but David Fuchs was able to knock the pass away. After a review, 0.3 seconds were put on the clock. URI's defense forced a pressure-lob pass into the paint, and Davidson was unable to get a shot off, giving Rhode Island the victory.

- Davidson's Bailey Reed just missed a triple-double, finishing with 30 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds.
- Davidson guard Bobby Durkin added 28 points and had six 3-pointers.
