URI Edges Yale and Moves to 8-0 — Next Up PC

The University of Rhode Island men’s basketball team moved to 8-0 on the season with a win at the Ryan Center on Monday night, 84-78 over Yale University.

 

Last year, URI beat Yale 76-72.

The game was in doubt throughout the game.

 

URI scored the last 6 points of the half, but Yale led 35-34 at the break

 

The game was knotted at 56-56 with 9 minutes left.

 

70-66 URI leading at the under 4 minute timeout.

 

 

Leaders and Stats

 

URI was led by David Green with 26 points and added 9 rebounds and Sebastian Thomas scored 20 points.

 

David Fuchs led the Rams with 10 rebounds.

 

But the Rams shot just 40% from the field for the game.

 

Yale’s woeful 3-point shooting helped the Rhode Island cause — they shot just 4-18 for 22%.

Yale senior John Poulakidas led the Eli in scoring with 25 points but was just 2-10 from behind the 3-point line.
