Terrell OwensTerrell Owens, 41, would be open to a work out with the New England Patriots. In an interview with the Boston Globe, Owens said he would be open to making a return to the NFL with the Patriots and still believes that he could be productive.
"I still know how to play the game enough to be productive. Could I get myself in better shape as the season goes on? Absolutely," Owens told the Globe.
The Patriots wide receiving core is riddled with injuries and took another hit in the Patriots last game when Aaron Dobson and Danny Amendola went down. Dobson is expected to miss at least one game while Amendola is questionable for the Patriots Sunday Night Football game against Denver.
In his career that spanned 15 seasons, Owens caught 1,078 passes for 15,934 yards and 153 touchdowns. Owens was named to six Pro Bowl teams and was named a first team All-Pro five times.
Owens most recent NFL season came in 2010 where he caught 72 passes for 983 yards and nine touchdowns for the Cincinnati Bengals. A knee injury kept Owens out in 20011 and he briefly signed with the Seattle Seahawks in August of 2012.
Owens is currently in his first year of eligibility for the Pro Football Hall of Fame next summer and a return to the game would mean he would have to wait until 2021.
