Thompson's 4 Touchdown Catches Not Enough, Bryant Falls 35-31 to Duquesne

Keenan Thompson catches four touchdown passes for Bryant
The Bryant Bulldogs lost 35-31 on to Duquesne on Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh. The Bulldogs have lost three of their last four games. 

The loss drops Bryant to 3-5 on the season, while Duquesne moves to 5-3 on the season.

Bryant went up 24-7 in the second quarter after Keenan Thompson caught a 22 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Dalton Easton with 6:57 to play in the half. 

The Bulldogs would take a 24-14 lead into the locker room at the half after Duquesne’s Blair Roberts caught a seven yard touchdown pass from quarterback Dillon Buechel with just under two minutes to play. 

Duquesne’s momentum carried over into the second half when running back A.J. Hines ran one yard for a touchdown to bring the Dukes within three, 24-21, with 10:53 to play in the quarter. 

The Dukes would strike again late in the third quarter when Roberts and Buechel would hook up again, this time on a 43 yard pass, giving Duquesne their first lead of the game, 28-24, with two minutes left in the quarter. 

The Bulldogs would take the lead back when Easton and Thompson would combine on a 14 yard pass to put the Bulldogs up 31-28 with 11:20 to play in the game. 

However, the Dukes would take the lead for good on their next offensive possession when Roberts and Buechel would connect on a 13 yard touchdown pass giving the Dukes a 35-31 lead with nine minutes left. 

The Bryant offense would not get into Duquesne territory for the remainder of the game. 

This was the third time this season where the Bulldogs lost a game in which they were ahead by at least three scores.

Keenan Thompson 

Thompson set a program record with four touchdown catches in the game.

Overall he hauled in six catches for 89 yards to lead the Bryant receiving corps. 

The Stats 

Easton completed 18 of 33 passes for 230 yards and four touchdowns, while Brenden Femiano led the Bryant rushing attack with 11 carries for 42 yards. 

Duquesne’s Roberts led all receivers with eight catches for 153 yards and four touchdowns. 

Next up 

The Bulldogs will play their final home game of the season on Saturday, November 5 when they host Robert Morris. 

Kick off is set for noon time.
