URI Ranked #24, Matthews Returns

The University of Rhode Island Rams return star guard E.C. Matthews, and begin the season ranked #24 in the country in the preseason coaches poll

"It means we have put together a good group of players, we are recruiting well and developing players. However, as a team we have to put it all together," said URI Head Coach Dan Hurley.

The Rams are ranked for the first time since the 2007-08 season. URI begins their season on November 11 at home against Dartmouth.

PC Moves on from Dunn and Bentil

The Providence College Friars have been picked to finish ninth in the Big East this year, as they chase their fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance -- while moving on from Kris Dunn and Ben Bentil.

"Everyone is going to have role changes this year," said PC Head Coach Ed Cooley. "We need Kyron [Cartwright] and Rodney [Bullock] to score and lead the way."

Providence tips off their season on Monday, November 14 at home against Vermont.

Brown Basketball and the Ivy League Tournament

For the Brown Bears, the loss of Cedric Kuakumensah to graduation is offset by the return of a core group of players led by senior captains Tavon Blackmon, Steven Spieth and JR Hobbie.

This season, the Ivy League has put in place a four team conference championship tournament for men's and women's basketball. Previously, the Ivy League was the only conference not to hold a league tournament.

"I think it is great for our league, it will let more kids experience postseason play," said Brown Head Coach Mike Martin. Brown went 8-20 overall last season, and 3-11 in the Ivy League.  The Bears begin their 2016-17 campaign on Friday, November 11 at Cincinnati.

Bryant Looks to Bounce Back

The Bryant Bulldogs return NEC Rookie of the Year Marcel Pettway, and are picked to finish third in the NEC preseason poll.

"It's an exciting time of year for us, our guys have been scrimmaging now in practice, I think they are getting sick of playing each other," said Bryant Associate Head Coach Happy Dobbs.

The Bulldogs finished last season with a 5-13 overall record. They get their 2016-17 season underway on Saturday, November 12 against Notre Dame
